Install your widget
A small script gives your website a place to ask questions.
Test before embedding
Add approved knowledge and test answers in the Playground first. In Appearance, choose the widget color, theme, font, corner style and launcher position, then save your changes.
A public widget requires a connected Bulbul deployment with a public HTTPS address. Set APP_BASE_URL to that address on the server. A localhost script points at each visitor's computer and cannot serve a public website. Use a signed-in database-connected workspace for your own website. The public demo answers about Bulbul itself; your own website requires its own configured agent.
Choose your installation method
Open Agent settings, find Install on your website and choose your platform. HTML and Next.js have copyable snippets. Webflow, Wix and Framer have custom-code instructions. Google Tag Manager can use a Custom HTML tag in an existing container. WordPress has a downloadable plugin: install it, then copy your Bulbul URL and agent ID into its settings. Shopify currently uses a theme script; a Bulbul Shopify app is not available yet.
<script src="https://YOUR-BULBUL-HOST/widget.js"
data-agent="YOUR-AGENT-ID" defer></script>Check your website
In Agent settings, get the DNS verification instructions, add the TXT record at your domain provider and verify it. Then activate your trial or subscription and publish the agent from Plan & publishing. On the installation screen, select Open website for test, wait for the page to load, then return and select Check installation. The test receipt is checked for 15 minutes. A detected installation with a hidden launcher needs activation or publishing. Then open chat and try a known question, an unsupported question and the support form.
Check the widget on a phone too, including opening, closing and typing with the keyboard visible. If the widget cannot connect, check the domain and the copied snippet. Contact the operator of your Bulbul installation if the problem continues.
If the launcher doesn't appear
Use the exact hostname visitors land on: www.example.com and example.com are different websites. Clear your site builder's or caching plugin's cache after installing, and test in a private window with browser extensions off.
If your website sends a Content-Security-Policy header, add your Bulbul address to its existing script-src, frame-src and img-src directives. Installation shows the exact sources to copy. Most websites need no change.
